Plans include a transportation system that will reduce residents' dependency on personal vehicles to get in and around Clarksburg; further urban development without compromising farmland and the natural environment, especially that of the Ten Mile Creek and Little Seneca Creek; and the building of the multi-use Town Center, which would include a number of civic, park, and retail uses.

A new elementary school and high school have been built in Clarksburg to accommodate residents: Clarksburg Elementary School and Clarksburg High School. High school graduates and adult learners who are ready to make the jump into a collegiate learning environment have a number of area colleges and universities to choose from, including American University, University of Maryland, Marymount University, Montgomery College, Frederick Community College, and Howard Community College.
